SGI-DNA
SGI-DNA, a wholly owned subsidiary of Synthetic Genomics, Inc. (SGI), was founded in 2013 and is headquartered in La Jolla, CA. Building on the scientific advancements and breakthroughs from leading scientists such as J. Craig Venter, Ham Smith, Clyde Hutchison, Dan Gibson and their teams, SGI-DNA utilizes unique and proprietary DNA technologies to produce complex synthetic genes and reagents. SGI-DNA also offers a comprehensive suite of genomic services, including whole genome sequencing, library design, and other bioinformatics services. SGI-DNA is responsible for all commercial aspects of SGI’s synthetic DNA business and focuses on strategic business relationships with both academic and commercial researchers
SGI-DNA has launched a first-of-its-kind instrument to change DNA synthesis. The BioXp™ 3200 System cuts gene synthesis turnaround time in half and cost by more than a third. The system is a personal bench top work station that provides rapid, high quality linear DNA fragments from custom designed oligo pools and reagents. A capacity of 32 genes of 400 bp to 1.8 kb can be assembled on the BioXp™ 3200 System. DNA fragments are ready for off-line sequencing QC, further assembly into larger fragments, cloning into vectors and other common downstream applications with a services option for challenging constructs. The BioXp™ 3200 System is easy to order, increases experimental efficiency and is competitively priced.
Capabilities to be released on the instrument over the next year include serial assembly up to 10 kb, protocols for increased complexity, assembly into a vector, and bacterial transformation. Additional development will lead to transcription and translation functions without the need for additional hardware.
If your research is ready for the next generation of automated DNA gene assembly technology, schedule a demonstration to see how it performs with your sequences.
